Overview

How renewable systems work together

Solar PV panels generate DC electricity, an inverter converts it for use by the property, and the fixed electrical installation distributes that energy safely alongside normal grid import. Battery storage can charge from suitable generation or supported grid arrangements, and EV chargers can sometimes coordinate with solar or batteries when the selected equipment allows it.

Can solar panels and batteries be installed together?

Yes, where the equipment, electrical installation, space and design are suitable. The system needs assessed as a whole rather than assumed compatible.

Can a battery be added to an existing system?

Often, but the existing inverter, protection, documentation, cable routes and equipment condition need reviewed before a retrofit is agreed.

Will every battery provide backup power?

No. Backup operation depends on the selected battery, inverter, installation design and circuits included in the backup arrangement.

Can solar or batteries work with an EV charger?

They can be planned together, but compatibility depends on the charger, inverter, battery system, settings and property electrical demand.

Does the existing consumer unit need assessed?

Will the roof require separate assessment?
